The Alianza Technical Product Owner is responsible for driving internal development teams to deliver new features for Alianza’s Cloud Voice Platform. You’ll be working with seasoned Agile teams as the Product Owner with responsibility for gathering requirements, writing user stories, grooming the backlog, and story acceptance. You’ll work in, and report to, the Product Management Team and work with a team of Project/Program Managers & Analysts. As a member of the team you’ll provide detailed project plans and strategy for the delivery of company goals and objectives. You’ll also assist in the improvement of processes and tools that facilitate the software development lifecycle through discovery, release and customer acceptance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Function effectively and independently as a Product Owner for a development team and/or set of product domains working on Alianza’s Cloud Voice Platform
  • Lead the development team in a non-authoritative position by communicating vision and excitement around company goals and objectives and by motivating and inspiring the development team to give 110% effort and commitment to Alianza
  • Write clear, comprehensive and succinct user stories, requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Create wireframes, designs, and/or mockups for visualizing user flow as required
  • Assist in defining product vision, creating product roadmaps and formalizing release schedules
  • Lead backlog grooming meetings – collaborate successfully with developers to drive to high-quality solutions and high velocity
  • Facilitate and lead development teams through release and sprint planning
  • Hold regular product demos for new functionality delivered within development sprints
  • Assist development teams with story breakdown and high level architectural discussions while providing vision into the near and long term product strategy for maximizing value
  • Understand the Alianza product portfolio and how those products are used as well as how they can be improved within Alianza constraints
  • Comfortably present information to internal stakeholders and external customers when necessary
  • Work closely with Scrum Masters to understand what is happening on the development team and work to continually improve communication, collaboration and success
  • Lead process improvements and smaller projects as needed by Alianza


  • 5+ years experience as an Agile/Scrum Product Owner (or equivalent)
  • 3+ years experience in a project/program management role
  • Experience working in an agile (Scrum/Kanban) development environment
  • Excellent client-facing and internal written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to synthesize many competing priorities, understand the business impact of each and make the correct prioritization requirements – and then defend your decision
  • Must have a strong sense of ownership – owning all things within the product owner domain and executing them in a consistent and professional manner without direct supervision or micro-management
  • Must be comfortable in a ‘CEO of the Product’ role – taking personal responsibility for the features, quality and direction of your domains within the Alianza platform
  • Communicate, influence, and work with the product management director and team to ensure alignment with the roadmap, strategy, and specific product plans and implementation
  • Ability work well within a team environment where work and contributions are highly visible
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • Comfortable working under pressure with deliverables due on set dates
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Experience creating/documenting business processes
  • Telecommunications industry experience is highly desirable
